Wii Games

Allowing gamers to feel like they're a part of the action like never before, Nintendo's Wii system has sent shockwaves throughout the entire gaming industry. Its intuitive motion controls give you a workout as you play, and are a heck of a lot more fun than just mashing buttons. Game developers have taken advantage of the system for the inventive games covered in this guide, including innovative ways to stay in shape with Wii Fit  - you'll be amazed at your workout, almost like the first time you took Yoga.

Games That Make You Go "Wheeeeeee!!"

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess : This adventure epic, set in a fantasy world that's being taken over by a mysterious twilight realm, is not only the best game for the Wii, or the best game of the year -- it's one of the greatest ever made. You take a sword and shield as the elfish her, Link, and solve puzzles and slay enemies while transforming into wolf form and back.

Excite Truck : Taking a cue from the classic Nintendo game, "Excite Bike," this roadster puts you behind the wheel of fast-moving monster trucks and has you steer and slam your way to victory. Your Wii remote acts as your steering wheel.

Happy Feet : Adapted from the hit computer animated family film featuring a dancing penguin, this game goes a step beyond what you'd usually expect out of its ilk. Making full use of the Wii's motion sensor capabilities, you go off on a fun, intriguing adventure that sticks close to the plot of the movie.

Red Steel : You take the first-person point of view in this shooter/slasher, which allows you to fire away at enemies or cut them down to size with a ninja sword. For once, you get to take out enemies by pointing at them with the controller and pulling a trigger rather than awkwardly moving a target icon and pushing a series of buttons.

Rayman Raving Rabbids : A collection of silly, more-fun-than-they-should-be minigames centered around zany rabbits, this is one of the ultimate party games. You'll use your controller in ways you never considered.

Madden NFL 07 : Nintendo's Madden games have always been a bit weaker than those on other consoles, but this year's entry is stronger in many ways than the others. It lets you take snaps and throw passes by flicking your wrists in a lifelike manner. You feel like you're on the field.

Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz : Monkeys inside of transparent balls -- what else do you need to have fun? Roll nutty primates through obstacle-filled courses, and also use them in various minigames, such as boxing and bowling.

Rampage Total Destruction : A throwback to the arcade classic that sucked up quarters more than a decade ago, "Rampage" has you control a giant mutant creature and -- you guessed it -- rampage through unsuspecting cities..

Metal Slug Anthology : The Metal Slug games were addictive side-scrolling shooters in the vein of "Contra." Several games in the series are jammed onto one disc here, and enhanced with motion sensor control.

Call of Duty 3 : Now this is the way first-person shooters should be. Your Wii remote is your virtual gun, allowing you to point-and-cap Nazis with abandon. Gramps would be proud.

Splinter Cell: Double Agent : Ubisoft's seminal spy series sneaks its way onto the Wii system. Deception and stealth are the name of the game here. You stop a deadly missile, break out of jail and infiltrate a terrorist agency.

Need for Speed Carbon : Probably the top racing title available on the Wii, "Carbon" lets you feel the thrill of the road as you run from cops, win street races and impress the virtual ladies.

Blazing Angels: Squadrons of WWII : Using the Wii remote as a paper plane-like flight sensor, you guide your fighters against Axis forces in order to control the skies in the name of liberty.

GT Pro Series : A nifty accessory comes packed in with this game  -- it's a steering wheel shell that slips over your Wii remote, turning it into a lifelike steering wheel. You'll need it to rip your way through this game's hairpin turns.

Wario Ware: Touched!
